I got off the ship today! I went to Target to buy some additional items I felt I
wanted for my cabin (air fresheners), and such. It was nice to be on land, albeit for a short time. As I head into week #2, I feel much
more “settled” and though I am not really doing “catch up,” but able to focus
on the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks at hand.
Because I am a manager, I am in an officer’s cabin on deck
4. I’m in Cabin 4256. I have a porthole! WOO HOO! While it is much larger than some cabins on here, and I live
alone (I can’t imagine being in a 4-berth, or worse yet, a 6-berth cabin), it
is still small. I haven’t hung up
any personal decorations, as I didn’t bring any, but since I don’t spend too
much time in here, it isn’t bothering me yet. These photos will give you an idea of the size . . . the
bathroom is the worst . . . if working with fit, twenty-somethings isn’t enough
motivation to get in shape, the size of my shower sure is. I took a “floor” picture so you can see
just how small it is . . . for anyone who knew my shower in my NYC apartment,
this makes that look like the Taj Mahal!
My cabin steward, Ralph, is great. His birthday was during my first week here and I got wind of
it, so I gave him his weekly tip early, along with a birthday card and a
balloon that I left on his supply cart in the hallway. The next day I started getting a
washcloth “candle” in my bathroom.
Later in the week, I didn’t get it one day and busted his chops about
it. The next day I had a monkey
hanging from my curtains . . . he cracks me up as he “hangs around” and looks
over my cabin.
