. . . a date that will live in infamy. Having been to Pearl Harbor back in January, it felt a
little bit more meaningful today . . . at least I have a personal connection
now and the visuals aren’t just from photographs and film . . .
Well I was supposed to do Day #4 of Insanity with Candi at
10:30 this morning; however, her knee was really bothering her, so we
took a day off . . . and instead, did 40 minutes of power walking around the
promenade deck (Deck #7). We are
docked at Cozumel (a treat, as we were originally to tender, but there was an
open dock slip) and the sun is shining, there’s a light breeze, and the water
is BLUE, BLUE, BLUE! After the
power walk, I took a shower, and headed ashore for lunch with Tiger Martina,
the director of THE V-SHOW and BOLLYWOOD, and Ruben Delgado, the Technical Supervisor,
with whom I worked, and became friends with, in Tampa. We went to “No Name Bar,” which is the
“crew hangout” for all of the ships that port in Cozumel. I think the entire production cast of
the Norwegian Dawn was there, celebrating Vlad’s (dancer) birthday. Ruben had a massage at the attached spa
that morning and wanted to extend but couldn’t, so he pre-paid for another
30-minute massage at 1pm, but ended up giving it to me at the last minute,
which was a TERRIFIC surprise. Oh,
his lovely wife, Bree, a director/choreographer with whom I also worked in
Tampa was also there today. It was
great to see them again. Lunch
never quite happened, but two margaritas and three shots of tequila did. This cast doesn’t seem to understand
that even though THEY are off on Friday nights, some of us still have to
work. And I’m not 22 anymore . . .
I can’t keep up. Still, it was a
lovely day and great fun. Needless
to say, I took a little nap when I returned to the ship!
Back in Tampa, there was a day where the two gymnasts didn’t
have to attend rehearsal. At the
end of the day, I had announcements for the whole cast and for some reason, I
could not think of the word “gymnast.” As a result, after I made my announcements to the
cast, I asked that they please pass the information on to . . . um . . . the .
. . uh . . . the bouncing boys.
Well, it stuck, and ever since, Kyle and Zach have been the bouncing boys. Here they are doing their fancy work at
a pier in Cozumel, and then posing with me. Ummmm, thank goodness I’m on this workout kick . . . I don’t
like looking so fat next to them!
