SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2012

This morning, Mom and Dad drove up from Sarasota to celebrate Christmas with me.  They picked me up at the seaport and we went to the restaurant at the Marriott hotel downtown (a short drive from the port).  We had a large booth and were able to have a lovely breakfast (the buffet was quite nice, complete with an omelette station) and were able to exchange gifts with each other.  After that, they took me to run a few last minute errands (Target, Staples, Best Buy) for Christmas.  Actually, Mom ran into Best Buy and bought the WHITE CHRISTMAS dvd I will give to Candi, the cruise director.  She’s never seen it!  OK, she’s Jewish and from South Africa, so both the “white” and “Christmas” part are a bit out of her upbringing, but as I’ve said before, she exudes Christmas.  When we were planning the holiday show for the ship, and she told me she had never seen the film, I knew I had to gift it to her this Christmas.

So, although I won’t be “home for the holidays,” (actually, they won't either, as after they dropped me back at the ship, they started their trek to Charlotte, NC to spend Christmas with Tim and Joey, the cat) I did get to have a little Christmas celebration w/ Mom and Dad today and it was wonderful!
