We ate breakfast at Cagney’s
Steakhouse (a special option for V.I.P.s). I did some work in the morning. Actually, today should have been a relatively quiet day for me,
but ended up being rather busy.
Mom & Dad did their power walk around the promenade deck, checked
their emails and called the office (Dad did) from my office, then showered
& played bingo.
They then took the behind the scenes tour of the ship, which I arranged for them to participate in, and loved it. Dad thinks it’s the best tour/excursion he’s ever done on a ship. I don’t know as though I believe that, but I’m thrilled that they enjoyed it so much. The second-to-last stop on the tour is the theater, and is hosted by yours truly. I start out chatting w/ the guests, who are sitting in the house, then take them up through the dressing rooms, backstage, then back around to the house. I always make a point to show the hydraulic lifts under the stage, and point out the accordion “cover” on the sides and front of the lifts. They serve two purposes. The first is to mask the lifts, when the stage sections (4’ x 8’) lift up. The second is an emergency safety. If one kicks them, they have sensor that automatically stop all automated activity on the stage, to prevent anyone getting a leg, arm, etc. caught as a lift lowers. Who do you think started “tapping” (with her foot) the accordion folds? My mother! OY! And then my father decided to razz me by asking how many seats were in the theater . . . a question he asked earlier in the week. Now, when he asked the first time, privately, rather than making up a number and “selling” it as truth, I was honest with him and told him “between 1,000 and 1,100, but I don’t know exactly.” He replied with “you better find out before the tour.” And of course he decided to ask me during the tour. Now the funniest part of all of this is that none of the other guests knew they were my parents.
For dinner, we ate at
Cagney’s Steakhouse (my other favorite w/ La Cucina). It was delicious!
After dinner we took in the
late performance of The Second City.
It’s a marvelous cast and quite a funny show. Mom and Dad loved it.
They were too tired for The White Hot Party, but I went to observe the
dancers who perform a number at it.
The photo of the "angels" here is of Jorge (Big J., who calls me M&M) and Natalie (the one who's trying to become a daughter-in-law). I was quick to retire though, and was in bed relatively early.
