While I am in an “inside” passenger cabin, on deck 4, port
(left) side, I have no phone service (yet if I step into the hall, I do),
something went wonky with my phone & alarm this morning. Last night, I set my alarm for 8:30am. It went off this morning, and I felt
pretty rested. I showered,
dressed, and went to breakfast, looked at my phone, and it said 8:10am. WHAT?!?! I think something must’ve happened w/ the lack of service
and the time. I guess I need to
put my phone to “airplane mode” when I go in my cabin, so that the clock
remains constant.
We left Boston at 11am today, after staying at the port over
night. We were supposed to sail at
6pm last night, but we are not docking in NYC on Friday, as originally planned. Once again, thank you Hurricane
Sandy! Hmpf! While I was hoping to set foot in the
Big Apple, and possible see some friends during the day, I have no idea if
there is even a pier at which we could dock. So, we are now at sea for 2.5 days, until we dock in
Norfolk, VA on Sunday, November 4, at 7am.
I went up to the bow of the ship, on the upper deck, and
watched as we departed. While it
was a bit chilly, it was a clear, sunny day, making a lovely first
departure. I had a moment of “I am
a lucky son-of-a-gun” as we departed.
How cool is it that I get to do what I love, on board a beautiful ship,
and travel on someone else’s dime?
I think very.
We were in the theatre all afternoon, spacing BAND ON THE
RUN on the stage. After a
production meeting, I had a quick bite, then an evening dance rehearsal with
the male dancers and one of the singers in the aerobics studio.
That was followed by two cocktails in Gatsby’s Champagne bar
with some colleagues, then to bed.
It was a full day, but I am enjoying it thus far, and hoping for
continual calm seas.
