Today we were in Aruba. Yes, go ahead mom, sing The Beach Boys’ song again. It’s a stone’s throw from Curacao. I did 2 hours of work this morning and
then got off the ship. I walked
around for about an hour before finally settling on a Cuban restaurant (with
outdoor seating . . . that was a priority for me) for some lunch and a few
mojitos. Aruba is clearly
undergoing a great deal of construction, with trolley tracks laid throughout
the downtown area, and cobblestone streets being built around them. I relaxed this afternoon and it was
wonderful to be off of the ship for so long. Thanks again to google for the artwork.
Tonight’s main stage entertainer was Stephen Kane, who is a
singer and pianist. To refer to
him as a pianist really does not do him justice. The speed and agility that the man can play the piano is
astounding. He covered so many of
the great singing “piano men” . . . Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Elton John, and
more. It was quite a night. He was backed by the show band for the
majority of his set, but did do some fancy solo work too.
On another note, today is my "half birthday." I only remember that, as it was also my Grandma May's birthday. I am now closer to 38 than 37. OY!
